Dear
Express
Editor,
Thank
you
for
printing
Ronald
Farago's
letter
(“Fort
Lauderdale
police
should
target
real
crime,”
Express
June
26).
I
was
beginning
to
think
it
was
just
me.
Oakland
Park
and
Fort
Lauderdale
cops
are
misguided
to
say
the
least.
If
you
need
a
cop,
forget
it
—
they
are
too
busy
making
sure
boys
don’t
hook-up,
and
businesses
are
hassled.
I
see
real
crime,
I
see
dangerous
and
reckless
traffic
maneuvers.
Where
are
you?
Oakland
Park’s
crime
rate
is
one
of
the
highest
in
SoFla.
I
was
stoped
at
8:30
am,
on
my
way
to
work,
the
cop
said
I
went
through
a
stop
sign....six
blocks
behind....what?
He
searched
my
truck
and
went
all
through
my
overnight
bag,
you
know,
condoms,
lube,
etc…and
my
pill
box…Cialis...I
am
58.
He
cited
me
for
not
having
the
scrip,
or
original
RX
bottle.
Who
carries
their
scrips
with
them?
Now
I
am
due
in
court,
humiliated
and
made
to
feel
I
have
no
right
to
privacy.
I
never
ran
the
stop
sign,
I
just
looked
EASY,
and
that’s
what
its
all
about.

Dear
Express
Editor,
I
enjoyed
your
interview
with
"Our
Mayor"
(“Interview
with
Jim
Naugle,”
Express
June
19).
If
he
really
cared
about
his
gay
constituency
he
would
do
what
cities
in
England,
Australia,
Holland
and
other
civilized
countries
do:
1)
have
a
gay
police
task
force
2)
send
them,
in
uniform,
(not
in
shorts
and
tank
tops),
to
parks
and
other
places,
talk
to
those
who
might
be
committing
"offenses"
encouraging
them
to
"get
a
room"
or
stay
out
of
parks
and
bathrooms.
Something
like:
"knock
it
off
guys,
this
isn’t
the
place."
3)
nstead
of
sending
5
undercover
cops
to
stake
out
the
parks
and
entrap
people,
he
could
place
a
marked
car
in
the
parking
lot.
We
all
know
it
is
a
deterrent.
He
would
be
saving
(
our)
money,
police
time,
the
courts
time,
and
avoid
ruining
people's
lives
by
arresting
them.
I
guess
it
is
too
easy
and
too
simple.
He
would
not
be
able
to
show
his
right
wing
Christian
friends
all
the
arrests
(entrapments
actually)
he
has
collected.
I
supposed
it
is
part
of
his
agenda
for
his
future
political
life.
We
better
be
ready
because
once
he
steps
down
as
mayor
he
will
not
simply
go
away.
He
will
be
back
seeking
higher
offices.

It
has
come
to
my
attention
that
unauthorized
individuals
have
been
attempting
to
raise
money
for
Broward
House.
Please
do
not
permit
any
individual
to
raise
money
on
Broward
House’s
behalf
unless
they
have
a
signed
authorization
from
me.
Anyone
raising
money
for
their
participation
in
the
SMART
Ride
which
benefits
Broward
House
and
5
other
HIV
service
organizations
in
the
state
should
have
an
authorization
letter
and
Rider/Crew
number
as
identification
and
should
clear
it
with
you
first.
Any
questions
can
be
directed
to
David
Spacht,
SMART
Ride
Director,
at
954-270-8350.
I
apologize
for
any
inconvenience
this
has
caused.
Broward
Hous
deeply
appreciates
the
support
you
have
given
in
the
past
and
looks
forward
to
further
collaboration
in
the
future.
We
would
not
be
able
to
support
the
more
than
5000
individuals
we
serve
in
Broward
County
without
you!
(Ed.
note:
To
prevent
fundraisers
carrying
forged
authorizations,
if
you
don’t
already
know
the
person
raising
money,
contact
Broward
House
for
authorization.)
