I heard a lot about The Cottage and their Sunday tea dance and always
wanted to check it out. In photos I saw in our Caught section, I
noticed that it looked really cute – with cozy outdoor seating, coffee
tables and couches and swings. I went to visit my friend Pete in West
Palm Beach and he suggested we have dinner there.
We went on a Saturday night around 10 p.m. and the place had a nice
crowd. There was a DJ playing CeCe Peniston and there was a very mixed
crowd. We started off with cocktails and Pete had a mojito ($8), which
I tried since I consider myself a mojito expert. It wasn’t too sweet
and was really refreshing. I had a Wake Me Up ($8.95), which was a
fruity drink with Guarana. It tasted like candy and the Guarana gave me
energy that I desperately needed since I was a bit spacey from my long
ride up there. Pete recommended the Seared Ahi Tuna ($18), which he had
there in the past. It sounded good so I went with it. The Ahi Tuna was
encrusted with sesame seeds and served with wasabe mashed potato
stuffed egg rolls and veggies. The whole meal was delicious, but the
wasabe mashed potato egg rolls were creative and incredible.
My friend Pete went the meat and potatoes route and ordered the Filet
Mignon Kabobs with mashed sweet potatoes. He said the meat was juicy
and I couldn’t just take his word for it, so I had a bite. The fi let
mignon was melt-in-your-mouth tender and at only $18 was a steal. Other
items on the menu also looked very appealing like their “Worth Fighting
Over” Macaroni and Cheese ($7.95) that my friend Stephen told me about.
According to the menu, the dish features four kinds of cheese and red
chili pepper. Their lunch menu and their jazz brunch menu also had
great items like Banana Macadamia Pancakes ($9.95), Jumbo Lump Crab
Cakes and Baked Garlic Cheese Grits ($14.95) and Mom’s Meatloaf
sandwich ($11.95).
The Cottage is a cute place to hang out with friends and enjoy
cocktails, listen to good music and eat comfort food with a twist.
