Police
are
seeking
tips
in
the
case
of
a
local
man
who
disappeared
June
26
from
his
home
at
Drake
Tower
Condominium
in
Fort
Lauderdale.
Mark
Douglas
Jackson,
35,
was
last
seen
at
his
condo
at
about
5
a.m.
on
June
26,
police
said.
Earlier,
during
the
evening
of
June
25,
Jackson
went
to
the
Coliseum,
a
local
gay
club,
with
a
friend
who
was
visiting
from
out
of
town,
police
said.
Police
declined
to
identify
the
friend.
Jackson
and
the
friend
left
the
Coliseum
together
and
returned
to
Jackson’s
condo
at
1800
North
Andrews
Ave.,
police
said.
A
surveillance
camera
captured
Jackson
and
his
friend
entering
Jackson’s
condo
building
in
the
early
morning
hours
of
June
26.
“According
to
the
friend
and
the
video,
it
doesn’t
appear
that
anyone
else
was
with
them,”
said
Det.
Mark
Breen
of
the
Fort
Lauderdale
Police
Department.
When
he
awoke
the
next
morning,
the
friend
said,
Jackson
was
gone,
Breen
said.
The
friend
said
Jackson
left
behind
a
note.
The
friend,
who
was
visiting
for
the
weekend,
is
not
a
suspect,
Breen
said.
There
is
no
video
of
Jackson
leaving
the
condo
because
the
surveillance
camera
had
stopped
operating,
Breen
said.
After
Jackson
was
reported
missing,
Jackson’s
car
was
still
parked
in
the
parking
lot
of
Drake
Tower,
and
nothing
appeared
to
be
missing
from
his
apartment,
Breen
said.
Police
are
describing
the
incident
as
a
“suspicious
disappearance,”
but
it
is
being
investigated
by
the
homicide
unit.
“It’s
very
suspicious
and
it’s
very
out
of
character
for
Jackson,”
Breen
said.
“But
at
this
point,
anything
is
possible.
He
may
have
just
decided
to
leave
on
his
own.”
Gary
Santos,
manager
of
the
Coliseum,
said
Jackson
was
an
acquaintance
of
his
who
frequented
the
nightclub.
“He
used
to
go
to
the
club
a
lot,”
Santos
said.
“But
I
hadn’t
seen
him
in
a
long
time.
But
I
saw
him
that
night
and
I
told
him,
‘Hey,
I
haven’t
seen
you
in
a
while.’
“He
said,
‘I
haven’t
been
going
out.’”
Santos
said
Jackson
called
his
cell
phone
number
earlier
that
evening.
“I’m
assuming
he
called
to
be
put
on
the
guest
list,”
Santos
said,
referring
to
a
list
of
people
who
are
admitted
to
the
bar
without
paying
the
cover
charge.
“He
called
every
once
in
a
while
to
be
put
on
the
guest
list.”
Santos
said
he
didn’t
realize
that
Jackson
had
called
him
until
police
informed
him
that
Jackson
had
called
his
cell
phone
number.
Santos
said
so
many
people
call
for
the
guest
list
that
he
loses
track
of
them.
Jackson’s
picture
and
discription
has
been
posted
on
the
wall
at
the
Coliseum,
but
none
of
the
other
employees
have
reported
knowing
or
interacting
with
Jackson,
Santos
said.
Jackson
is
employed
at
Home
Diagnotics,
a
manufacturer
of
diabetes
supplies
in
Fort
Lauderdale.
Kim
Zeltwanger,
director
of
human
resources
at
Home
Diagnostics,
described
Jackson
as
“an
excellent
employee,
very
dedicated,
very
responsible.”
Jackson
has
been
with
the
company
for
more
than
a
year
and
is
senior
manager
of
product
marketing,
Zeltwanger
said.
“This
is
totally
unlike
him,”
Zeltwanger
said.
“He
is
the
type
of
employee
who
calls
in
if
he’s
going
to
be
five
minutes
late.”
Zeltwanger
said
Jackson
enjoyed
outdoor
activities,
including
running.
She
said
he
also
liked
to
work
out
at
Bally's
gym.
He
talked
about
having
his
kitchen
remodeled,
Zeltwanger
said.
Zeltwanger
said
Santos
was
not
scheduled
for
vacation
and
that
it
was
uncharacteristic
of
him
to
take
off
without
telling
anyone.
Jackson
is
described
as
a
white
male
with
blue
eyes,
brown
hair
and
a
receding
hairline.
He
is
6
feet
2
inches
tall
and
weighs
about
180
pounds.
